I'm all for "green shipping" and using technologies like sails or electric boats to do things more efficiently. I'm just wondering why "manufacturing more things locally" isn't really discussed more. Doing something like growing cotton in America, shipping it to China, and then shipping shirts back to America seems a lot more wasteful than just using cotton to manufacture stuff here.
