Creating my own distribution channel helped me validate a new idea
Hey everyone.
I recently launched https://linktopus.co, and from day 1 I had traffic coming in, people creating their own pages and helping me validate the idea.
And although I built other projects that had almost no traffic, this time around I built something for the people I already could reach.
Long story short, I also built https://publicapis.dev, which has had good and consistent traffic for the past 2 years. It's an open source project, so people naturally contribute and share it with other developers. It grows organically.
So why not use one project to promote another?
As long as the audience fits, leverage everything you built.
Your creations can compound and grow together.
And what might not seen so valuable today can help you down the line.

Finally, Linktopus is having a Black Friday sale, it's a lifetime subscription for the price of 6 months.
I hope you like it, and have a great one!
- mtmail 3y agoI remember the forking of https://github.com/public-apis/public-apis https://github.com/public-apis/public-apis and the long git issue discussions. The company owning the repository stopped maintaining it but didn't give up control either. Over the years you've put in a lot of work in publicapis.dev and that is much appreciated.
- marcelcruz 3y agoExactly, and unfortunately the situation never changed there. :/ I'm grateful a lot of people open PRs and help me maintain the fork. Such an amazing collection of APIs could not die out like that!
