    Didn't HN have a feature whereby when you submit the same URL that's already been submitted, it would just skip the dupe and redirect to the previous post? Or was that Reddit and I'm totally misremembering it?

      It does, it even upvotes it automatically I think. But neither of those dupes are actually the same URL, so it didn't kick in.
