Twitter's purpose was short status updates, and links to longer content. It was never an either/or proposition. Alas none of this matters because Twitter is dead spiritually, and X is dying financially and culturally, and they're adding so much random crap to it in a desperate bid for relevance (like long posts, long videos, dating, banking, LLM chat, ..., ..., ...) that it just looks like noise at this point.
