The self-own is so real with this one.
- CamelCaseName 3y agoCan you name a major company that wouldn't do this?
- dragontamer 3y agoWhistleblower laws in general actually. Ex: If you file a complaint about your boss in good faith, your boss is normally not allowed to retaliate against you.
- CamelCaseName 3y agoI didn't realize Media Matters was a Twitter employee.

- evan_ 3y agoMedia Matters didn't sue Twitter. The lesson is, if you do something Twitter doesn't like, they'll scoop up your data and use it to sue you.
- extheat 3y agoIf you try and attack a company, that leads to monetary damages, then yes, that company is entitled to use their data for redress. When you open HackerNews, or any website, of course they have all your information in log files about what you opened, when and from where (ip address, browser headers, etc). That should not be surprising.

- icehawk 3y agoOh that really is true isn't it. I hadn't realized the second self-own after the enormity of the first.
