UK Covid inquiry: no countries political leaders understood exponential curves
- lifeisstillgood 3y agoMy understanding of stats is shaky at best, and in the UK we have been banging the "Boris was not up to it" drum a lot, but this slice just depressed me.

- genman 3y agoThis is also why most of the world policy makers don't understand why overpopulation is so huge problem as it too is an exponential process. If we take Africa as an example then in 1950s there were around 200 million people in Africa. In year 2000 there were around 800 million people. Today there are 1.5 billion people in Africa and UN projects that for the end of century there will be 4 billion people in Africa with a big if - if the fertility rates go below replacement levels due to development in education and personal well being. What if the world policy makers really understood exponential growth? There would be no question if we could provide prosperity for everyone on Earth.
- Bostonian 3y agoWorld population grew tremendously from 1900 to 2000, and in much of the world, so did living standards.
- genman 3y agoYes, in the world outside of the so called developed world and USSR or China (what applied their own 1 child policy). Africa is just an example here. India for example grew from 360 million to 1.4 billion today.
