I hear you, but I fly spirit all the time with no add-ons at all. No bags, no seat selection, no wifi, no snacks. I really appreciate the low price and select Spirit over my preferred airline Southwest often for this use case. It's not a dark pattern in my case, even if I do get annoyed those times when I actually have to fly them with bags.
