I couldn’t make up a more ridiculous plot even if I tried. At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if Musk got involved. It’s already ridiculous enough, why not.

I couldn’t make up a more ridiculous plot even if I tried.
At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if Musk got involved. It’s already ridiculous enough, why not.
- perihelions 3y agoHey I've seen this one, it's a rerun https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/24/23654701/openai-elon-musk-failed-takeover-report-closed-open-source https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/24/23654701/openai-elon-musk... - "But by early 2018, says Semafor, Musk was worried the company was falling behind Google. He reportedly offered to take direct control of OpenAI and run it himself but was rejected by other OpenAI founders including Sam Altman, now the firm’s CEO, and Greg Brockman, now its president."
- brandall10 3y agoThink of the audacity of forcing out someone who had previously forced out Musk...
- belter 3y agoCurrently, there are shareholders petitioning the board of Tesla for him to be suspended due to the antisemitic posts. Maybe this will be the week of the CEO's... :-)
- rrr_oh_man 3y agoWait, what antisemitic posts?
- Forgeties79 3y agoIt’s pretty bad https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/nov/17/white-house-biden-elon-musk-antisemitic-tweet-hate https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/nov/17/white-hou...
- elwell 3y agoI don't grok the original tweet very well, and I don't understand what Musk means by his reply. Can someone ELI5?
- stcredzero 3y agoMusk doesn't like the ADL. Media are spinning this as "anti-semitic," hoping the emotions around the issues will prevent most people from reading carefully.

- stcredzero 3y agoWait just a minute here: > The tweet literally blames immigrants I'm not familiar with the tweet Musk was referencing. Exactly which immigrants? Are these Jewish immigrants? I thought this was a reference to mostly non-Jewish immigrants to Israel. > I'm deeply disinterested in giving the tiniest shit now about western Jewish populations coming to the disturbing realization that those hordes of minorities that support flooding their country don't exactly like them too much. You want truth said to your face, there it is. This also indicates the immigrants are non-Jewish. Exactly what is the "anti-semitism" here? This is flagrantly antisemitic and pushes multiple bigoted conspiracy theories. What conspiracy theory, exactly?
- deleted 3y ago[deleted]
- xdennis 3y agoThe conspiracy theory is that Jews are in charge of the world and control things like who gets to immigrate to the USA. The argument he's making (which I've seen more openly stated in other places) is: "Jews don't like it that minorities are killing them in their country, but that's just deserts for them pushing immigrants to my country". Antisemites are more coy on popular platforms like Twitter so it's more difficult to understand what they're saying if you're not already familiar with their world view.
- tstrimple 3y agoThis post (https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1724908287471272299 https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1724908287471272299) in reply to this tweet (https://twitter.com/breakingbaht/status/1724892505647296620 https://twitter.com/breakingbaht/status/1724892505647296620).
- next_xibalba 3y agoThat… doesn’t seem antisemetic. Rather, it seems to criticize western Jews for supporting lax immigration and cultural policies that are against their own interests. Or are we now saying any criticism of Jews is antisemitism?
- xdennis 3y agoYes, it's antisemitic because it's using the antisemitic trope of Jews controlling the world, in this case immigration (remember "Jews will not replace us"). > western Jews for supporting lax immigration Jews don't have a single opinion on immigration. Do you think Ben Shapiro wants more immigrants? If I said that "Asians are good at math" I'd be derided as a racist for invoking that stereotype, but somehow people think it's okay to say that "Jews support lax immigration".
- mr_toad 3y agoAccusing Jews of “dialectical hatred against whites” seems like a fairly prejudiced statement.
- RetpolineDrama 3y ago>due to the antisemitic posts. He can't be suspended for posts that didn't happen.
- belter 3y ago"Tesla shareholder calls on board to dump Elon Musk" - https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/11/20/tesla-shareholder-calls-on-board-to-dump-elon-musk/ https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/11/20/tesla-shareholder-cal... It tell you...this is the week of the CEO's...
- callalex 3y agoHow would you interpret what he said, then?
- ekojs 3y agoWell, there was a tweet by one of the Bloomberg's journalist saying that Musk tried to manouver himself to be the replacement CEO but got rebuffed by the board. Paraphrasing this since the tweet seems to be deleted (?), so take of it what you will.
- bertil 3y agoThat sounds more likely than anything else I've heard about this. Doesn’t really matter if it’s true: it’s painfully true to form.
- wanderingmind 3y agoPlot twist, anonymous donor donates $1B for OpenAI to continue progress.
