People managed to navigate planes before GPS existed. I was under the impression they still covered the basics of those methods, at least, when training pilots. the AM directional beacons planes also use to navigate are rarely well secured, and would be easy to spoof, too. Don't recall hearing any distress about that, and that system has been around for just a little less time than planes have.
