...and Satya/etc just pretended surprise, and the board declined to state this shocking news, and for some reason Sam thought it was better to stay at OpenAI while negotiating "for months"? It takes some pretty good gymnastics to land that theory.

  perhaps this is what Sam was lying about, and why he got fired.... it all makes sense in hindsight that Microsoft committed a coup, and it's not from inside OpenAI
