You can't love your country if you choose a non-sovereign currency as your national one
You also can't love your country if you sell your 'gold' (rare earth minerals) mines to foreign entities
It'll become the Congo of South America, what a shame this election was

Seems to correlate with the collapse of lithium and EVs becoming cheaper, the common denominator is pretty obvious at this point
- fluoridation 3y agoIt's hard to love your country when it steals your money right out of your pocket to spend it frivolously. On top of inflation, most of this year I've been paying income tax while I'm on a monthly salary of less than USD 1000 (equivalent).
- tim333 3y agoMany Europeans love their countries but use Euros rather than the old national currencies. Also most countries allow mines to be bought and sold. I'm not sure the Argentina experiment will go well but not really for those reasons.
- WhereIsTheTruth 3y agoThey didn't use the Deutsche Mark, they came up with a new currency for their union, similar thing for the BRICS+ Milei wants to submit to their bully and give away their national resources, and it's not just about Lithium: https://cancilleria.gob.ar/en/process-sanctions-against-oil-companies-illegally-explore-continental-shelf-and-malvinas-began https://cancilleria.gob.ar/en/process-sanctions-against-oil-...
- tim333 3y agoDunno but the FT has "Milei’s pledges ... have delighted investors and businesspeople who have despaired of the country’s inability to capitalise on its vast natural resources." We shall see. Your link is about arguing about oil near the Malvinas / Falklands which is kind of a different issue.
- andrewjl 3y ago> They didn't use the Deutsche Mark, they came up with a new currency for their union What you're saying is factually true but overlooks what happened with Greece, Spain, and others during the 2010s.
- FacZap 3y ago> You can't love your country if you choose a non-sovereign currency as your national one. What is this weak appeal to false nationalism argument?
