- vintermann 3y agoSure, but I think that the industry profiting from gambling addiction is one of the roots. Maybe even the most important one. The US seems to have tightly regulated gambling of this sort until recently, and it seems to have worked reasonably well. It's a contrast to the UK, where bookmakers have been poverty marker alongside the usual liquor stores and payday lenders for a hundred years.
