Does the story of Sam raising funds from Saudi investors to start a AI Chip company have any relevance to what happened or is that just a nothing-burger? I don't any people on HN discussing it today
- shoggouth 3y agoIs that related to GlobalFoundries?
- alephnerd 3y agoGlobalFoundaries is owned by Mudabala, which is the sovereign fund for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (the emirate with actual power) in the UAE
- next_xibalba 3y agoI've seen several people claim it is an "outrageous conflict". I'm not really seeing that. Seems like a well done nothing burger with a side of french cries to me.
- piuantiderp 3y agoI mean a good question is how would this be structured. Would it be a new SamAltman company or was it to be part of OpenAI? If so, was it to be a profit or non-profit? The thing is starting to look more and more like, become the biggest name in AI through claiming non-profit status, leverage the brand to go for profit.
