- simonblack 3y agoThat's no surprise. Anybody who has studied chemistry knows that temperature has an effect on the speed of a chemical reaction. The rough Rule of Thumb is that the rate of a chemical reaction doubles for every 10 degree Celsius rise in temperature. Marine animals take on the temperature of the water surrounding them. Heat that water, you heat the animal. No surprise at all.
