A lot of people think it's been faking things all along - things like capacity, data privacy & safety, exponentially growing intelligence, enshittification, sustainability, or whether GPT is some dudes in a trenchcoat. A firing with the odd reasoning of being dishonest is just a perfect storm. Also many things are shared because they confirm what someone wants to believe, sometimes even being just a headline with no content.
