You agree with him that "Jewish communities push hatred against whites"?
- bdangubic 3y agonon-Jews on any color, not just Whites
- xyzelement 3y agoI hate that phrasing including because it sounds intentional. I do think that support of “progressives” often ends up that way even when people support it for innocent reasons.
- mindslight 3y agoIt's exactly this imagined/forced intentionality that is the problem. One can make a thoughtful point of how some Jews support causes that end up being anti-Semitic. It's probably best to focus on the actual causes and the actual people in question so the nuance doesn't get lost (and also so we can avoid things like support for Palestinian civilians being painted with the "anti-Semitic" brush). In fact, your restatement of how you interpreted the comment Musk responded to got most of the way there. But the actual quote Musk expressed agreement with was quite far from any such thing: "Jewish communties have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them. I'm deeply disinterested in giving the tiniest shit now about western Jewish populations coming to the disturbing realization that those hordes of minorities that support flooding their country don't exactly like them too much." (https://nitter.net/elonmusk/status/1724908287471272299 https://nitter.net/elonmusk/status/1724908287471272299) Driving attention towards focusing on racial groups as if they have overarching explanatory power is exactly what makes this racist conspiracy tripe.
- appplication 3y agoYeah the actual quote is pretty bad. It touches all the bases: - broad generalizations about ethnic groups - implication that the Jewish community is somehow collectively conspiring to push some narrative - “no, you’re racist” - making it a point to be unapologetic about directed hatred towards jews - make sure it’s clear that bad things happening to Jews isn’t itself a bad thing, it’s them getting what they deserve - implying Jews and whites are mutually exclusive groups - somehow sliding a “fuck immigrants” sentiment in there at the end People got all uppity about Kanye, but even he wasn’t on this level.
- EndFascism 3y agoIt is intentional. The post Musk was responding to was agreeing with the sentiment that "Hitler was right". I don't know how many more of these comments he has to respond positively to over however many more years he's been doing it before people admit it's not a coincidence and it's being done on purpose. Speaking of that, do you know who frequently claimed that Jews were secretly using "communism" as a guise to promote a conspiracy against white people, and then used that rhetoric to gain power? Now replace that word in the same sentence with "progressivism" and it's dangerously close to Musk's comment.
- zarzavat 3y agoThe problem is that the artificial “Jews vs Whites” dichotomy is a thinly veiled version of Jews vs Aryans. The comment was made in response to another comment challenging those who say “Hitler was right”, implying that the problem comment agrees with that proposition. I’m Jewish. I’m also white. These are not disjoint sets and a lot of harm has been done by people who believe they are disjoint sets. One is an ethnic group. The other is skin color. There is no conspiracy by Jewish people against white people.
