- jay_kyburz 3y agois it silicon valley cool to not use uppercase letters? Not being snarky. A genuine question.
- exhibitapp 3y agoYes, this is something I have observed, for whatever reason sf-techies don't like capital letters or sentence case.
- dools 3y agoI blame them every time someone calls me Lain.
- replwoacause 3y agoWhat a strange and yet seemingly juvenile choice.
- mattgreenrocks 3y agoThey’re being authentic and real by only using lowercase
- Loughla 3y agoReal talk, bell hooks was there WAY before silicon valley bros.
- pimlottc 3y agoIt’s more of a very old school hacker tradition that goes back to before Web 1.0
- modzu 3y agobefore phone keyboards did it for you, caps required the shift key, which was utterly inefficient for real-time online discourse. and then those us who omitted the caps realized something: we dont need em
- pikelet 3y ago'Utterly inefficient' seems a bit hyperbolic.
- modzu 3y agoaaah such a methodical and painstaking expression, writing with caps and quotes, period and all.. suspects shields one from hyperbole :D
- airstrike 3y agointerestingly, I also type ellipses as ".." because the third dot is irrelevant!
- LeafItAlone 3y ago> aaah such a methodical and painstaking expression, writing with caps and quotes, period and all.. suspects shields one from hyperbole :D Funny that you got through that without the shift key, only to reach for it as the final character to use an emoticon.
- neutronicus 3y agoCertainly a snarky feminist tumblr thing ca. 2010 before cool people all starting posting on their phones and everything became sentence case again
- dools 3y agoHaha TIL that Twitter has replaced the blue check mark with a yellow one. What a scam.
- evan_ 3y agoThe blue one is still around, but it costs $8/month. The gold one costs $1000/month
- dools 3y agoYes so everyone rushed to buy the blue checkmark because that used to be for verified accounts. Then everyone lost all faith in the blue checkmark, so now they charge $1000 for authenticated accounts. It's a massive bait and switch. The $8/month one is worthless. If they wanted to retain a greater share of the value they were creating through authenticating big accounts they could just have charged $1000/month for the blue checkmark.
- irthomasthomas 3y agoI wonder if openai will publish more models again now?
