Building a DDOS botnet out of vulnerable IoT devices, hardly a Web-Killing Monster.
- FearlessNebula 3y agoExcept for that time it was pointed at a major DNS provider[1] and pretty much killed a good chunk of the internet for the better part of a day. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDoS_attacks_on_Dyn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDoS_attacks_on_Dyn
- WJW 3y agoI don't think you can really say you've "killed" something if it comes back within hours.
- 0xdeadbeefbabe 3y agoThanks for fixing the problem; I was sick of it too.

- dang 3y agoIf someone can find an accurate, neutral, and representative phrase from the article body, we can put that in the title instead.
- archi42 3y agoIt's a long read (and pretty good at that), and I only just now saw your remark... There is not a single phrase that really sums it up: The report covers a lot of time and many facets, making it hard to pick "that one phrase". Maybe simply pick another part of the title? The Mirai Confessions: Three Young Hackers [...] Tell Their Story (yes, not really neutral, but it drops the monster-bait)
- dang 3y agoThat's a good idea, but I dropped the "tell their story" because I'm not sure it's in the original text—and in any case it's not needed. Thanks!
