Ask HN: How to create an interactive map with selected public transportation?

I stumbled upon this website: https://memory.pour.paris/ I'm curious about how it was done. It seems it's powered by Mapbox and OpenStreetMap. I didn't find a way to easily limit a map including public transportation to a specific zone (only displaying subways and not regional trains from Paris as it's done here). Does one need to create custom tiles to achieve this effect?
