Apple and Twitter – Russell Finn's Blog
- coldtea 3y ago"I don't like some ideas, so they should be surpressed, and companies that allow them should be driven out of business, so I'm writing to third party companies to stop doing business with them" + virtue signalling
- whywhywhywhy 3y agoThis is cringe, also Apple already suspended their advertising then decided they actually didn't care and started advertising again right? > disturbed at first by the way he treated his employees Sorry, but he fired a huge percentage of the engineering team, the site didn't fall over even many months later, it loads faster, shipped more features and engagement is up. At some point we have to just face facts that the people who were fired had many years to deliver and the product was basically stationary and even completely fumbled opportunities like Vine that eventually became much bigger than Twitter when implemented by a competent team. This idea that people are owed a job regardless of output is absurd.
- rvz 3y ago> I hope that you and the leadership team at Apple are already giving careful consideration to the effect of continuing to financially support such a platform. So is the author going to send a letter to Tim Cook and Apple about their relationship with what China did to the uighurs (which almost everyone forgot about) [0] and that their devices were built with child labor then? [1] I bet he won't. > At the top of Apple’s “Ethics and Compliance” page, above your name, is the statement: “We do the right thing, even when it’s not easy.” Everyone knows that forced labor against minorities in concentration camps AND child labor is a very abhorrent thing to support and there is nothing ethical about that. So mentioning Apple's empty statement on ethics is quite frankly pointless. Once again, crazed people driven by headlines and outrage since they are still married to corporations to ethically 'do the right thing', even though they are morally bankrupt in the first place.
