I prefer an alternate approach: the enemy of my enemy (deceitful, violent Western culture) is my friend. I believe it is more optimal for Western countries (and their citizens' lifestyles) to be taken down several pegs, and I do not mind so much if it is a net loss for everyone (as opposed to a rebalancing).
