Elon Musk Is Making His Advertising Crisis a Problem for Sex Workers
- nickthegreek 3y agoBiggest issue here is this from the article: "Not even people who directly follow affected users would be able to see their content in their timelines, according to this message." Gatekeeping from people who have opted into the content is a whole new level. Article also mentions not showing up in search. Imagine typing in someone's exact handle and X just pretends they don't even exist.
- trebor 3y agoI think this flag was added because a lot of these sex workers want to post pictures without flagging their sensitive media. Then they dog pile replies on all the trending tweets, and people find the adult content. Any time that happens to me, I flag sensitive content. And then I block the user—so I don't need to deal with it. I see this as punishing people who're not following the terms, not gatekeeping.
- Bluescreenbuddy 3y agoIt was only a matter of time before social media started clamping down on people using their platforms to advertise their sex work. Those platforms don't see any of that revenue that the creators will make on an entirely different platform.
- brodouevencode 3y agoI'm not 100% sure what the problem is - pornography/prostitution services being tagged as such is a bad thing how?
