I think its a writing style developed from how people communicate in irc type interfaces. At least it seems familiar to me based on how I communicate ideas to my friends and family on discord/facebook/whatsapp etc I won't speak to it's merits or problems, but just point out that I didn't find it hard to parse, perhaps because its familliar to me?
