So, all in all, OpenAIs puritanism ruined this product, made the developer sad and took away a virtual porn toy from lonely, horny men. Who were they doing this for? Who is the winner? They lost a customer and made a lot of people sad.
- immibis 3y agoYou aren't the customer, you're the product.
- Traubenfuchs 3y agoPeople paying for their API must be their customers, I mean, if there is no one paying for their API, how do they make money? (Besides ChatGPT+)
- ReactiveJelly 3y agoWhat I'm seeing these days is that you're always the product, because advertisers are one more customer, and everyone wants more customers, and the individuals who care about privacy don't "weigh enough" to win tug-of-war with the majority of people who don't care.
- FeepingCreature 3y ago> Who were they doing this for? VISA probably. Card processing is weirdly puritanical.
- papa-whisky 3y agoI've read that payment processors don't like dealing with porn companies because of the very high rate of chargebacks they attract, not because the processors are Puritans...
- ReactiveJelly 3y agoIf that were the case, and it was B2B where pricing tiers are more acceptable, would they not simply have a "porno tax"?
- anthony100 3y agoInteresting. Not sure how this is different from Onlyfans and lots of money is going there.
- numpad0 3y agoVISA/Mastercard goes after those as well. ebooks too. Penalizing short people, forcing verbiage changes, etc.
- mensetmanusman 3y agoThey want chatgpt in schools to own the next gen of workers.
- ReactiveJelly 3y ago"Hook 'em while they're young, like the tobacco industry. God, I wish we had their numbers." -- Cardinal Glick, _Dogma_, accidentally explaining Apple's outbound marketing model, later copied by Microsoft and Google.
