Chinese chipmakers are still able to obtain U.S. fab tools
- bell-cot 3y agoUm, yes? Have export restrictions ever actually prevented a determined major nation from getting the stuff that it wanted? (Vs. merely adding some delays and bottlenecks to their supply chains.) Admittedly, I can't recall the last time that I saw a "$Government imposes Export $Restrictions" news story which bothered to point that out. One could make disparaging remarks about modern journalism. Or questions whether the free market for news is willing to support the reporting of such dull, unhappy truths.
- giuliomagnifico 3y agoYes but also slow down the China abilities is something, about "adding some delays and bottlenecks to their supply chains", I suspect that it's the same as don't allow the whole sale to it, only increase the amount of time that *this nation (China) will take to obtain the same machines using other ways.
