Bertrand Russell: A Free Man's Worship
- johnea 3y agoI'm really a fan of Bertrand Russell, but this essay demonstrates a very common rebuke of life without an invisible guy in outerspace. > How, in such an alien and inhuman world, can so powerless a creature as Man preserve his aspirations untarnished? How did the idea that life has a "purpose" ever get started in the first place? What a self-centered view of reality. Maybe, if we just put into perspective the outrageous improbability of our existence in the first place, we'd be happy to just be here. Not whining about "oh, the sun will burn out in 10B years and life will be over, like it never existed". No wonder our violent primate species is so determined to wipe ourselves out before that happens? 8-) Personally, I'm a big fan of suicide. Anyone who can't appreciate their existence here really should just off themselves. There are WAY too many monkeys anyway...
