One of my favorite games, Soul Reaver, was written by Amy Hennig (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Hennig https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Hennig), and I knew about this for decades now. As someone who played games my entire life, girls and women have given me the most judgement for doing so. This entire ideology of shoehorning representation into everything seems to ignore what the people actually want. At least in the West, video games still carry a stigma and is associated with not being productive. Maybe if the energy is directed in this direction instead of the group of male nerds (that would love to have more female contact) there would be better results as women would just flood the industry as it is no longer seen as lame.
