Is it true that "traffic is evaporating" for smaller sites? I'd love to see some numbers.
Keep in mind that overall traffic on the internet was orders of magnitude lower back in the heyday of quirky personal sites.
- jamesfinlayson 3y agoMaybe - I run a few small sites, but the two main ones have seen increased traffic over time (I make some effort to be discoverable and add new content). I think that Google's recent index pruning could be a factor though - a small percentage of pages on one of my sites have become unindexed for no obvious reason - I assume others are seeing something similar, and it's possibly accelerated if content isn't being updated regularly.
