I live in a community that discourages use of smartphones. Very few friends have accounts on social networks. We have a strong social life. I always have conversations with strangers. Technology is being used to make you addicted to wasting time for the benefit of a billionaire. (Now, I admit that a smartphone has a lot of legitimate uses, many of which I miss. But, I still think it's a net positive to use an old dumb-phone.)
