This is essentially what I did. I worked for a title insurance company and, while there wasn't an immediate feeling of job insecurity, I felt I should get out there and see what else was available. I was let go a week ago. Due to my early planning and the two presentations I did at local user groups, I have another, much better job waiting for me in January.
