- Minor49er 3y agoThe author of that post is also the person who created Fire Chicken https://github.com/bahlo/firechicken.club https://github.com/bahlo/firechicken.club https://arne.me/ https://arne.me/
- loxias 3y agoOh hells yeah bring back webrings. I'm gonna make a personal website just to hop on the bandwagon. Make the internet 1999 again.
- skybrian 3y agoI guess the name is just random? These websites don't seem to have anything to do with fire chicken. [1] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buldak https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buldak
- solardev 3y agoInteresting. "Fire chicken" is also what they call turkeys in China. 火鸡 https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-cn/%E7%81%AB%E9%9B%9E?wprov=sfla1 https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-cn/%E7%81%AB%E9%9B%9E?wprov=sfla...
- mr_cyborg 3y agoI love this and support it wholeheartedly.
- ChrisArchitect 3y agoLots of webring talk this week: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38268706 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38268706 And Related last week: Ask HN: Why is there no effort to bring back webrings? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38177128 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38177128 And this thread with some 'rings and related threads listed: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37577861 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37577861
- sli 3y agoI've been working on a silly personal website for a while for this exact reason: starting a webring. Specifically, I've decided to just reject replacing the social media platforms I've left. It's lovely to see others bringing back webrings.

- HankB99 3y agoSeems a little fragile. I don't see how to get past https://flbn.sh/ https://flbn.sh/
- voigt 3y agoThis is the „beauty“ of web rings. Low tech, but brittle if not everyone plays to the rules xD
- thelastparadise 3y agoWonder if we could get a multipath routing/BGP-style ring going.
- loxias 3y agoSure, we could. IIRC they were less "broken" with frames (modulo aesthetic taste) but honestly I don't see the problem with the ring "breaking". Browsers have back buttons; brains do tree search. If I'm to be an internet reactionary I'd commit to the bit -- underlined blue text to indicate a link, URLs that don't break, active use of the back button and history, etc. =)
