I knew it would kill hundreds or thousands of people when I voted for it. I also intensely dislike recreational drug use. But people should be in charge of their own behavior, even if self-destructive.

The issue generally is that self-destructive behavior now costs you (both in terms of $$ from your taxes, but also in terms of societal safety and disruption)
