They aren't being sarsarcastic. The felony threshold for theft in CA is $950, raised from $450 in 2020. According to accounts from multiple friends living in SF, most theft below the felony threshold is totally ignored.
- happytoexplain 3y agoSarcasm applies to subjectivity ("wasting valuable police time"), not objectivity ("more than $950"). The use of the exact number implies they are being sarcastic (though they should have made that more clear).
