The lifetime appointments are designed to put them outside of the scope of politicians and the need to run for re-election. I guess you could serve a single 15 year term with no option to rejoin the court.

- SauciestGNU 3y agoYeah but practically speaking they can't be as long as their crimes benefit at least a third of the Senate. Frankly, the corruption of the court seems to fall substantially along party lines, so as long as one party never holds 67 senate seats there is no mechanism for accountability.
