Linux Desktop Usability
- damnesian 3y ago>Strangely, I really loved the Windows Phone OSes, but I didn't really carry that love over when their design principles were ported to the desktop. I think a lot of people feel this way. It's not terribly strange, though: the two products in question (WOS, Windows 8) were attempts to improve two platforms with some ancient common dna but adapted to interface with radically different hardware. One was an appropriate and successful design, the other very inappropriate and a failure.
- WhereIsTheTruth 3y agoThe world rejected Windows Phone OS, even in emergent markets, the design wasn't "successful", it failed for the same reasons Windows 8 failed, too many swipes and scrolling required, uni-color and confusing navigation with messy tiles/headers
