The one myth they did that I was truly concerned for their safety was when they piled a bunch of lumber and construction material on top of a Volkswagen Jetta and drove around. Having owned one, I had no confidence that the roof structure was strong enough to support it all. Don't discount the magical properties of a length of wood with "that'll hold" cast on it.

  Don't discount the truck owners who believe if it fits on the bed of the truck, its magically becomes light enough to not snap the axle when the truck goes over a slight bump
