  That attitude is how data breaches keep on happening. We have the means to properly secure data, barring internal absolute human malice or incompetence which nothing can defend against anyway. The problem is most people simply don't want to.

    No, the problem is that this kind of airgapped systems are far harder to work with or make useful. You don't need to sacrifice convenience for security. It's quite possible to build secure systems without draconian (and largely useless) security measures.
