Why are you so negative? It actually makes you sound like you're arrogant and don't consider academic jobs "real jobs". The point about how to write a resume is simply that an academic resume emphasises very different things than a industry resume, because job requirements are different.
- motohagiography 3y agoHow is it negative, the article was a puff piece that treated the subjects a bit too preciously, and they were talking about how they are getting along in...trade. Arrogance indeed. My comment vollyed back Nature's lob. That said, I don't actually believe the "real jobs" this comment appeals to are a thing. I would argue that anything that involves serving on a committee is more of an appointment than a job, as practically by definition the members of a committee are not responsible or accountable for anything except diffusing said responsibility and accountability. The whole real-job trope is mainly an artifact of the anxiety of inlaws, I suspect.
