Interoceanic Corridor in Mexico will move 1.4M containers a year
- RetroTechie 3y agoNote this project involves moving containers over land. So it might be faster (& cheaper?) than passing through the Panama Canal. Buuuttt... It does mean unloading ship A and (after railway or road journey) loading 'em back onto ship B. Unloading + loading + change of ship. Versus passing with entire ship through canal. Maybe shipping companies would be fine with this. I don't know, I'm not in that business. But Mexico would need to make sure that those (un)load actions don't become bottlenecks themselves. Or the connecting road/railway. Anyway: interesting development!
