- rurban 3y ago> we should have stressed in the KFM instructions that small doses of radioactivity are hormetic, healthful because they stimulate the immune system. This was new to me
- LargoLasskhyfv 3y ago> This was new to me But not necessarily true. Heavily contested hypothesis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation_hormesis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation_hormesis probabably stemming from this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_radon#Intentional_exposure https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_radon#Intent... like implemented in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Gastein https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Gastein (and some other places at the time), where one could argue that it was a byproduct of other healthy aspects, and not the root cause. OTOH there are some places in the world with higher natural background radiation, and the people there are rather healthy. But there also have been cases of contaminated building materials harming people living there. So it may be the case that some forms of 'radiation' at very low intensity could be beneficial. For a short time, or people growing up used to it from birth, but after all we know currently, it would be better to avoid it. Just to be sure.
