- sofixa 3y agoFrom a couple of days ago, before the last final official release, so might not be up to date.
- miohtama 3y agoIt’s up-to-date as per the comment (edit) of the author. No changes in the legal text.
- CogitoCogito 3y agoI really don't like everything listed in the bad and ugly sections on that site, but I am able to come up with a silver lining. > Big Tech companies like Google, Facebook or Amazon will have to offer the Wallet as a way of logging into their services. I actually do kind of think this could be good. Those companies have turned into identity platforms because they want to track you, but they don't actually want to deal with meaningfully verifying your identity. I.e. if you get locked out, you might be locked out for good. They are totally cool off-loading all responsibility to you (e.g. "here keep these codes and send them to us in 6 years on the small chance you won't be able to log in"), but they won't do any legwork themselves to verify who you are so you can regain access to your services. These government services actually would give you a path to re-verify who you are (it could be byzantine and bureaucratic, but it wouldn't be impossible as it basically is with e.g. Google) so that would be an improvement. Anyway that's one of the few silver linings I can see there.
- greatgib 3y agoAs usual it is the commission, the rotten part of European always doing everything possible to undermine our rights to please gov and wealthy company lobbies.
- 0dayz 3y agoI don't get this hatred for the EU commission, since the commission is just the same as the government body like chambers/committee. Especially when that committee is a lot more transparent and fair than your national government.
- hulitu 3y agoTransparent ? No (See Pfizer contracts). They are more corrupt than national governments.
- jkaplowitz 3y agoThe press release is from the commission, but it’s welcoming an agreement between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU. It’s not actually the commission making an agreement.
