I would recommend not building from scratch. Take a known platform (even if you build it yourself) and focus on the navigation. I would highly recommend looking at ardupilot and inav. You need a bunch of components to make a drone... frame, motors, props, flight controller, speed controllers, batteries, camera, receiver and transmitter.
