It’s a shame we have arrived at this point where it’s ok so just be negative about anything crypto. Yes there is a lot to hate. But everything, without further arguments? At the very least it is intellectually dishonest. I find it short sighted.
When you are negative about crypto because x, y and z, you should cut them some slack when they solve x or y or z.
- mvdtnz 3y ago> it is intellectually dishonest Good lord.
- teekert 3y agoHave you ever seen people so dogmatic about a technology? The anti-blockchain group is as bad as the pro group. Why? Many people have completely blocked themselves from even considering anything blockchain ever again. Why? What if energy use came down to acceptable levels? What if there were no pre-mines? What if we can have decentralized low friction, low cost micro payments? I don’t understand the hate. It’s a cult as much as the crypto Bros. Can’t I just think SBF is a criminal, and think that 99% of crypto is indeed shitcoin while still liking this idea? And liking podcasting 2.0, and liking Boostagram Ball? What’s up with the dogmatism anti-crypto-Bro? It’s like you can’t be pro-life, anti-guns. People like that exist you know, maybe they’re the most interesting ones? At least they don’t assign themselves to a group and align with all values of said group automatically. My god this is tearing up the tech space as much as politics is tearing up the US. Why would you join this “proxy war” (crypto bros vs self-proclaimed intellectuals) at all? Just keep an open mind. Talk to both sides. The promise of BTC lighting payments is pretty spectacular. Podcasting 2.0 is really pretty cool. Musicians being paid directly by listeners, how is this bad? Isn’t this all that we hippie hackers who stepped barefoot into cyberspace ever wanted? Read about it. Develop an informed opinion.

Wouldn't a more interesting question be something like, what if it solved a problem that wasn't already solved in a better way by much older technology?
- teekert 3y ago“Better” is subjective. What older technology offers decentralization and (asymptomatically) 0 cost micropayments?
