Lightning is Bitcoin, which is not “crypto”.
- egypturnash 3y agoBitcoin is not "crypto"? What is it then? The introduction of Satoshi's paper[1] describes it as "an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party." 1: https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
- timbit42 3y agoBitcoin is a cryptocurrency. It uses cryptography but it is not a cryptography.
- egypturnash 3y agoAre you aware that both "cryptography" and "cryptocurrency" are both commonly shortened to "crypto"? Merriam-Webster is very much about watching usage, and this is what they currently say (without the usage examples): *crypto*, noun 1: a person who adheres or belongs secretly to a party, sect, or other group 2: CRYPTOGRAPHY sense 2 3: CRYPTOCURRENCY (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/crypto https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/crypto)
- sMarsIntruder 3y agoOh my god, are you really argumenting with this stuff that I already know? Bitcoin is not “crypto” since cannot be put in the same circle of what you call “crypto”, or better, Shitcoins. Thanks for unvoting your brains
