- make3 3y agowere you asleep for the past 5 years
- shaldengeki 3y agoFunnily enough, it means both; the author's classifier lumps cryptography articles in with cryptocurrency (search for "homomorphic encryption"): https://github.com/corbt/hn-analysis/blob/main/analysis.ipynb https://github.com/corbt/hn-analysis/blob/main/analysis.ipyn...
- MeImCounting 3y agoI feel like that might skew the "Crypto" results in the positive direction no? I would think most people here have a generally positive view of strong open source public key cryptography as in many ways its the foundation of many modern technologies and the current internet correct?
- shaldengeki 3y agoI don't think any of us can know for sure, since the classification and sentiment analysis were both performed by an LLM, and I'm not seeing validation of the results by the author. You can imagine certain security/cryptography-related terms getting coded naively as negative-sentiment by an LLM ("vulnerability", "breach", "flaw").
- JohnFen 3y agoYeah, that's a lost fight. "Crypto" is ambiguous now and you have to figure out what is meant from context. Personally, I try to avoid using the abbreviated term because it causes confusion.
