What I find especially interesting is how they explicitly decided to design the site like a startup's. I always think it's cool when philanthropy learns from commercial enterprises.
- drivebyacct2 15y agoIt's just bootstrap [1], it's a laziness/cheapness/time constraint thing, not really mimicking. [1]: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap
- elliottcarlson 15y agoNote that the screenshot has a listing of "ideas" for the site - including a note that says "Make it look like a fake startup company."
- antihero 15y agoHonestly I'm actually getting really bored and annoyed with the amount of Twitter Bootstrap sites now, that don't change themselves at all.
- alwillis 15y agoIf it was really about laziness, cheapness or time constraints, they would have just put up a Github README and would have been done. Seems pretty clear they’re breaking with the crappy, poorly designed webpages open source software—especially anything having to do with networking or security—often have. These guys understand: how something is presented matters too; not just how well the code works.
