A nice thing about tight integration is that you don't need a bunch of extra wiring and a kludge to figure out door status. Minor annoyance, but real. In any case, I'd wager a fair number of the people complaining about this don't even have the newer 'smart' openers, they have the original MyQ Internet Gateway or the newer MyQ Home Bridge. Liftmasters have been a very popular opener for decades.
