The surge in stoicism is reactionary, as the stoic
Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never harm me.
...is an anti-inflammatory response to the opposite sentiment embedded in the campaign to eradicate microaggressions. Stoicism is permission to not take damage from verbal barbs.
