Empathy is a thing which comes from our brain. All the drugs we know, somehow influence on our brain. If our brain is influenced by the drugs, then it also has an effect on our social behavior.
Drugs affect the dopamine receptors (very briefly said.). That's what's letting us feel well after consumption. While we're "high", we're susceptible to empathy of others. For example, a good friend of my never questioned man+girl. Then he started to take ecstasy at parties and his personality changed to the not so good any more, IMHO.
Mainly because of the mood when he's not high.. and he questioning man+girl now. He started to kiss with a boy while being high and fell in love with that guy (the don't even know each other nor have ever meet again hahahaha)
So clearly, something has changed in his brain.
The same I can notice with other friends, who smoke pot. I know them since a long time, so I see clearly a shift towards a peace & love thinking, away from my job & money & cars and watches attitude.
So. Let's smoke pot and live empathic :)
I'm really keen to the observations made in the next 20 years. If cannabis is really not more dangerous than alcohol, then good. If it is nearly as dangerous than alcohol, I think we'll see that with the consumers in 20 years.
Hope for the best and "let the people choose free how they spend their recreational time"
Peace to all the Harry Pot'ters. Keep care and check yourself for plausible-ness each day xD
