I wonder how many HN readers need to read this - reluctant as I am to overgeneralise, my instinct would be: not many. And the comments seem to reflect that. I'm certainly someone for whom the opposite advice would be more in need - I think listening to people talk about themselves is something of a defence mechanism; avoiding letting people in.
